Allergy Medical ID

Do You Need A Bracelet or Medical ID For Your Allergy?

The most common reasons for wearing an allergy alert are food allergies and drug allergies, but if you have any severe allergy, it’s advisable to wear some form of medical identification to speak for you when you can’t.

An allergy medical ID in the form of a medical alert bracelet, necklace, or wristband is invaluable in an emergency, as you could be unable to communicate or be unresponsive - it makes first-responders and emergency services immediately aware of your allergies ensuring that any treatment is adjusted accordingly. For example, if you have a severe allergy to latex, it can minimise the time responders wear latex gloves when dealing with your emergency.

There are lots of medical IDs to choose from so you can select the style that best suits you and your lifestyle, with choices from casual to more stylish designs. To help you choose, we’ve curated aallergy range of medical IDs where you'll find ID cards, wristbands, necklaces and bracelets as well as handy medicine bags. Our bracelets and necklaces feature the well-known medical alert symbol and can be engraved with your details.

All prices include free engraving and free UK mainland delivery.

What Should You Put on an Allergy Medical ID?

It is always best to consult with your doctor or specialist to decide what to engrave on your allergy medical ID. In the event that this is not possible, we have taken advice from the lovely doctors at  Concierge Medical (the multi award-winning private GP service for the Cotswolds and surrounding areas) and recommend the following:

As a minimum, you should put the following on your allergy medical ID:

  • Your severe allegy(ies).

  • Risk of anaphylaxis (if applicable).

  • EpiPen (if you carry one).

  • Steroids (if you carry them).

  • Your primary ICE (in case of emergency) number.

You may also want to include the following:

  • Your name.

  • Any other severe medical conditions.

  • Any other medications you may be on.

  • “See medical card” (if you choose to carry a medical ID card in your phone case or wallet).

If you choose a medical ID bracelet that can be engraved on both the front and the back, we recommend that you engrave your medical information on the front and your personal information (name and ICE) on the back.

General advice on engraving:

  • Information should relate to conditions not otherwise discoverable by examination of an unconscious or incapacitated patient.

  • Important medications should be listed.

  • Information should be relevant to life-saving or emergency treatment.

  • Avoid using general terms, e.g. “Allergies: bee stings, nuts” is much more useful than just “Allergies”.

Allergy Wristbands

It's important that those at risk of a severe allergic reaction wear, or keep with them at all times, some form of medical identification in case of an emergency.

A wristband can be a handy way of doing this as they’re comfortable and convenient to wear throughout the day and evening, indoors and out. We have many different colours you can choose from with inside engraving or outside engraving and we also offer smaller wristbands for children. Our Velcro and Silicone ranges are great if you like to stay active.

Allergy Bracelets

Our beaded Pandora style bracelets feature a beautiful charm where your medical details can be discreetly displayed. These designs are perfect to wear at a party or simply if you like your medical ID to have a touch of style.

As well as a vast range of bracelets, we also have watch style SOS Talismans that allow the wearer to write their details onto an information strip and store inside the SOS capsule, great for individuals whose details or medications might change frequently.

Allergy Necklaces

As well as a bracelet or wristband, some allergy sufferers wear a necklace as an alternative or additional way of carrying vital medical information. Our range of engravable dog tags are a great option if you require multiple lines of personalisation as they can fit up to 5 lines of engraving.

SOS Talisman and Infomedic necklaces are also great for discreetly keeping your medical details safe inside a unique pendant with a waterproof seal.

It’s not always easy to persuade little ones to wear medical IDs so we have a great range of allergy medical IDs for kids: from colourful silicone bands to fabric wristbands and necklaces. Many of our engravable medical ID bracelets are available in a variety of sizes from 5 inches (12.7cm) to suit even young children.

Allergy Medicine bags and ID Cards

If you carry an EpiPen, our EpiPen carry cases are perfect for keeping your medication safe. They're also great for traveling and when you go on holiday.

As well as your allergy alert jewellery, it's also a good idea to have a medical ID card for your wallet or phone. This allows you to carry more detailed information with you, such as your address and NHS number. If you purchase one of our ID cards alongside a necklace or bracelet, we normally advise having 'see medical card' engraved on your chosen piece of jewellery.
