Diabetic Medical ID

Diabetic Bracelets

Do You Need A Medical Alert Bracelet or Medical ID For Diabetes

Diabetes is a well-known condition with millions of sufferers across the globe. The severity of the condition can differ depending on the type and individual case. It’s recommended that you wear some form of medical identification to speak for you when you can’t.

A diabetic medical ID in the form of a medical alert bracelet, necklace, or wristband can save your life in an emergency, as you could be unable to communicate or be unresponsive - it allows the first-responders and emergency services to diagnose your medical condition rapidly and accurately. Our medical IDs are suitable for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

In our diabetes range you'll find handy medicine bags, ID cards, wristbands, necklaces and bracelets which we can personalise with your details. All prices include free engraving and free UK mainland delivery.

What Should You Put on a Diabetes Medical ID?

It is always best to consult with your doctor or specialist to decide what to engrave on your diabetes medical ID. In the event that this is not possible, we have taken advice from the lovely doctors at Concierge Medical (the multi award-winning private GP service for the Cotswolds and surrounding areas) and recommend the following:

As a minimum, you should put the following on your diabetes medical ID:

  • Whether you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.

  • Your name.

  • An in-case-of-emergency phone number (also known as an ICE number).

If applicable, you should also include the following:

  • Method of insulin delivery (syringe, pen, pump).

  • Any other severe medical conditions (including allergies).

  • Any other medications you may be on.

  • “See medical card” (if you choose to carry a medical ID card in your phone case or wallet).

If you choose a medical id bracelet that can be engraved on both the front and the back, we recommend that you engrave your medical information on the front and your personal information (name and ICE) on the back.

General advice on engraving:

  • information should relate to conditions not otherwise discoverable by examination of an unconscious or incapacitated patient.

  • Important medications should be listed.

  • Information should be relevant to life-saving or emergency treatment.

  • Avoid using general terms, e.g. “Allergies: bee stings, nuts” is much more useful than just “Allergies”.

Diabetic Wristbands

It's important that diabetes sufferers wear, or keep with them at all times, some form of medical identification in case of an emergency.

A wristband can be a handy way of doing this as they’re comfortable and convenient to wear throughout the day and evening, indoors and out.

We have many different colours you can choose from and we also offer smaller wristbands for children. Our Velcro and Silicone ranges are great if you like to stay active.

Diabetic Bracelets

Our beaded Pandora style bracelets bracelets feature a beautiful charm where your medical details can be discreetly displayed. These designs are perfect to wear at a party or simply if you like your medical ID to have a touch of style.

As well as a vast range of bracelets, we also have watch style SOS Talismans available that allow the wearer to write their details onto an information strip and store inside the SOS capsule, great for individuals whose details or medications might change frequently.

Necklaces Bracelets

As well as a bracelet or wristband, many diabetes sufferers wear a necklace as an alternative or additional way of carrying vital medical information. Our range of engravable dog tags are a great option if you require multiple lines of personalisation as they can fit a minimum of 5 lines of engraving.

SOS Talisman and Infomedic necklaces are also great for discreetly keeping your medical details safe inside a unique pendant with a waterproof seal.

Diabetes Bracelets For Kids

We have a great range of diabetes medical ids for kids: from colourful silicone bands to fabric wristbands and necklaces. Many of our engravable medical id bracelets are available in a variety of sizes from 5 inches (12.7cm) to suit even young children.

Medicine bags and ID Cards

If you need multiple insulin injections on a daily basis, our medicine bags and carry cases are perfect for keeping your medication safe. They're also great for traveling and when you go on holiday.

As well as your diabetes alert jewellery, it's also a good idea to have a medical ID card for your wallet or phone. This allows you to carry more detailed information with you, such as your address and NHS number. If you purchase one of our ID cards alongside a necklace or bracelet, we normally advise having 'see medical card' engraved on your chosen piece of jewellery.
